We should enumerate a list of expected responsibilities for facilities vs portal operators.
afaik,
facility operators:
- manage facility model information, update facility model information
- set and unset NoAlloc states for nodes with issues or bad hardware
- create facilities and create pools of resources within the facilities
- add or remove groups from the resource pools
- add or remove images available to stamp on their resources
- follow requested update schedules and instructions from the portal team on updating systems as necessary
- do basic backup operations on facility specific information such that re-instantiating the facility is a reasonable process
portal operators:
- IAM/user management (user/group approvals etc)
- maintain end user “VMs” (xdc) for workspace & “vpn” access
- inform facility managers when their api or services are out of date
